NORTHERN TERRITORY ESPORTS LEAGUE
WHAT IS NTEL?
The Northern Territory Esports League (NTEL) (formally the Next Tier Esports League), was first established in 2018 and in 2021 gained territory status. NTEL is the consensus benchmark for the most skilled NT based esports competitors.
Before NTEL, NT Esports focused on one game and ran 2 seasons of League of Legends (2015-2017). NTEL was formed to have a means to run multiple tournaments in a season attracting a wider player base and audience.
What makes NTEL unique is that it has both an offline in person audience and an online audience attracting multiple ways that people can spectate and see the NT's best compete in esports competition.
Every year, NTGE gives competitive gamers an opportunity to compete against others for the chance to win prizes, prize money, reward and recognition. This recognition extends to the League Wide Awards where players can be nominated for prestigious awards for their achievement throughout the season.

How does it work for players that enter? Is it like traditional sports?
NTEL is similarly run to traditional sports seasons. Players and teams will compete in various minor and major events every two weeks over approximately 4-5 months. Points are earned by winning games however points are also given to runner-up teams and participants. This applies to all games.
Games will have an individual champion player or team which is decided by way of finals event hosted online or at an event. Overall division winner is awarded to the team with the most accumulated points in their division.
Following the final major event (to be announced), there will feature the League Wide Awards where players and teams will be rewarded and recognised for their achievement in the NTEL. We will also feature particular categories that stand out throughout the course of the League.
LEAGUE-WIDE AWARDS
The League Wide Awards were introduced from the start in 2018 as a means to award excellence and also recognise achievement throughout the league season. Inspired by awards such as The Brownlow Medal (AFL), nominations are mostly from the players in the season with few handpicked by the founder DMoore himself. Awards range from Integrity awards for leadership, role model awards and awarding mastery of achievement over the season. There are also awards for NTGE team that help throughout the season. Over the years there has been gala dinners and most notably ceremonies held at the cinema with presentations of highlights over the season, speeches from organisers and sponsors. To this day, the LWA's remain as the most prestigious esports awards ceremony in the NT.
