  1. The Northern Territory Game Jam 2021 (now referred to as the “Competition”) is open to all Northern Territory residents (subject to any age restrictions that apply to specific categories i.e. "Rising Star" under 18s).

  2. In order to enter the competition the Entrant must develop on their own and submit an original game project.

  3. The Organiser reserves the right to assess if the submissions satisfy the eligibility criteria.

General stuff

  1. The organiser of the Competition  is Next Tier Gaming & Esports in collaboration with Larrikin Interactive (now referred to as the “Organiser”).

  2. The Competition aims to recognise and award the best local video game developers that submit an entry in accordance with the Competition requirements. 

  3. The Competition will accept applications and submissions from 6 August 2021 (the “Entrant”). 

  4. The deadline for Competition registrations and Competition submissions is 29 August 2021 (“Close Date”). Following the Close Date, there will be a judging process (through whatever means or methods the Expert determines) from 1 September to 22 September 2021.  

  5. The Organiser shall neither bear any costs nor be liable for any expenses incurred by the Entrants in connection with their participation in this Competition.

  6. Each Entrant grants the Organiser a non-exclusive licence to use any aspect of the Entrant’s submission and project for the purposes connected to the promotion, administration and conduct of the Competition (including future related Competitions or events run by Next Tier Gaming & Esports or Larrikin Interactive).  

  7. The Entrants must ensure any elements they use as part of their submission is permitted and does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. 

  8. All submissions must be the Entrant’s own originally created work. The Entrant must hold unlimited copyrights to their projects.

  9. Each Entrant may submit only 1 project in this Competition.

  10. All Entrants to try their best to attend (in-person) the Competition awards event to be held late October or early November 2021 - full details to be released closer to date. 

Judging and Prizes

  1. The Organiser appoints Dylan Bennett (founder and owner of Larrikin Interactive) as the sole expert judge of the Competition (“Expert”). 

  2. The Expert shall select the winners of the Competition and grant special mentions (based on the Expert's sole opinion and determination).

  3. The prizes in the Competition are outlined on the Next Tier Gaming & Esports website page here: https://www.nexttier.com.au/ntgamejam2021.

  4. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable and non-refundable and there is no cash alternative in whole or in part. The Organiser disclaims all warranties with respect to any prizes provided in the Competition. 

  5. Competition winners may not transfer the rights to the award to a third party.

  6. The list of winner(s) and prizes will be announced and presented at the Next Tier Gaming & Esports League Wide Awards event tentatively scheduled for a date in late October 2021 or early November 2021. 

  7. If the prize winner cannot be reached by the Organiser using the contact information provided at the time of entry, the prize shall be forfeited.

  8. Failure to claim the prize within 3 months from the win date shall result in prize forfeiture.


Complaints procedure

  1. The Entrants may submit complaints or objections to the progression of the Competition. Any complaints should be submitted in writing to the Organiser within 30 minutes after the announcement of winners. Complaints received after the expiry of the above-specified time shall be deemed invalid.

  2. All valid complaints shall be considered immediately after they are filed and the complainant shall be informed of their legitimacy or the lack thereof.

  3. The Organiser reserves the right to postpone the awarding of the prizes won.


Changes to these Terms and Conditions 

  1. These Terms and Conditions will be available during the Competition period at the following webpage: https://www.nexttier.com.au/rules-ntgamejam2021

  2. The above section titles are provided for convenience only and shall not affect the interpretation of these Terms and Conditions.

  3. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel the Competition without obligation to justify its decision. In this case, the liability of the Organiser cannot be held in any manner whatsoever. Entrants will be refunded any Competition registration fees incurred. 

  4. The Organiser reserves the right to introduce amendments to these Terms and Conditions.

  • Every participant has to behave with respect towards others. The participants are requested to represent esports honorably.

  • We expect players to conduct themselves according to the following values:

    • Compassion: treat others as you would be treated.

    • Integrity: be honest, be committed, play fair.

    • Respect: show respect all other humans, including teammates, competitors, and event staff.

    • Courage: be courageous in competition and in standing up for what is right.

  • Participants must not engage in harassment or hate speech in any form. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Hate speech, offensive behavior, or verbal abuse related to sex, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, physical appearance, body size, age, or religion.

    • Stalking or intimidation (physically or online).

    • Spamming, raiding, hijacking, or inciting disruption of streams or social media.

    • Posting or threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information (“doxing”).

    • Unwelcome sexual attention. This includes, unwelcome sexualized comments, jokes, and sexual advances.

    • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

  • Violation of this Code of Conduct will result appropriate action by Next Tier Gaming & Esports TO's. Any decision, determination or ruling made by a TO is final.

  • Next Tier Gaming & Esports takes photographs and videos of online and offline events for use in Next Tier Gaming & Esports marketing, promotion and related activities (Promotional Purposes).

  • Upon registering for the Northern Territory Game Jam 2021 (NT Game Jam) you (or your parent/legal guardian) give Next Tier Gaming & Esports and Larrikin Interactive permission to take photographs and videos (or similar) of you at online or offline events for Promotional Purposes.  

  • If you have any issues with this, please let us know upon registration and we will be sure to avoid taking photos or videos (or similar) of you during our events.
